Why did the Turks besiege Vienna in 1683?  

In 1683, the Turks once again attacked and besieged Vienna.  This revival of Turkish aggression, which had previously spanned the centuries, sent Christian Europe into frenzy.  The origins of this aggression can be found in the society in which the Turks arose.  Their culture and their social structure produced the force that faced Vienna in July 1683.  However, the motives for this aggressive military policy were more diverse than the original imperialist expansionist ideology, which had been a characteristic of the Turkish foreign policy.
