The origin of the First World War is a highly controversial topic.  Historians have been debating and assessing the main stimuli for the First World War for decades.  In this paper one particular stimulus shall be examined, the German High Command.  With the debate on the origin of the First World War being so complex, involving numerous variables, including alliances, expansionism and the weakening of key nations, to mention just a few.
